It began with three neighborhood women, one community kitchen, and the question: why is so much good food wasted?
In 2010, Marieke, Aïsha and Lila started picking up leftover vegetables from the market in De Pijp. What began as a weekly dinner for twenty neighbors has grown into a network of 23 districts, 14 partner farms, 800 active members and thousands of rescued meals per month.
We work from one principle: nothing is lost. Fresh food to neighborhood kitchens. Leftovers to farms. Compost to fertile soil. A new harvest.
The road to 180 districts
Amsterdam has 180 districts. Today we are active in 23. Our goal: a community kitchen, open table, and food route in every district.
